Draft genome of Thermomonospora sp. CIT 1 (Thermomonosporaceae) and in silico evidence of its functional role in filter cake biomass deconstruction Genet. Mol. Biol.
Omori,Wellington P.; Pinheiro,Daniel G.; Kishi,Luciano T.; Fernandes,Camila C.; Fernandes,Gabriela C.; Gomes-Pepe,Elisângela S.; Pavani,Claudio D.; Lemos,Eliana G. de M.; Souza,Jackson A. M. de.
Abstract The filter cake from sugar cane processing is rich in organic matter and nutrients, which favors the proliferation of microorganisms with potential to deconstruct plant biomass. From the metagenomic data of this material, we assembled a draft genome that was phylogenetically related to Thermomonospora curvata DSM 43183, which shows the functional and ecological importance of this bacterium in the filter cake. Thermomonospora is a gram-positive bacterium that produces cellulases in compost, and it can survive temperatures of 60 ºC. We identified a complete set of biomass depolymerizing enzymes in the draft genome of Thermomonospora sp. CIT 1, such as α-amylase, catalase-peroxidases, β-mannanase, and arabinanase, demonstrating the potential of this...

Draft genome sequence of Streptomyces sp. strain F1, a potential source for glycoside hydrolases isolated from Brazilian soil BJM
Melo,Ricardo Rodrigues de; Persinoti,Gabriela Felix; Paixão,Douglas Antonio Alvaredo; Squina,Fábio Márcio; Ruller,Roberto; Sato,Helia Harumi.
ABSTRACT Here, we show the draft genome sequence of Streptomyces sp. F1, a strain isolated from soil with great potential for secretion of hydrolytic enzymes used to deconstruct cellulosic biomass. The draft genome assembly of Streptomyces sp. strain F1 has 69 contigs with a total genome size of 8,142,296 bp and G + C 72.65%. Preliminary genome analysis identified 175 proteins as Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes, being 85 glycoside hydrolases organized in 33 distinct families. This draft genome information provides new insights on the key genes encoding hydrolytic enzymes involved in biomass deconstruction employed by soil bacteria.

Effect of sulfonylurea tribenuron methyl herbicide on soil Actinobacteria growth and characterization of resistant strains BJM
Rachedi,Kounouz; Zermane,Ferial; Tir,Radja; Ayache,Fatima; Duran,Robert; Lauga,Béatrice; Karama,Solange; Simon,Maryse; Boulahrouf,Abderrahmane.
ABSTRACT Repeated application of pesticides disturbs microbial communities and cause dysfunctions on soil biological processes. Granstar® 75 DF is one of the most used sulfonylurea herbicides on cereal crops; it contains 75% of tribenuron-methyl. Assessing the changes on soil microbiota, particularly on the most abundant bacterial groups, will be a useful approach to determine the impact of Granstar® herbicide. For this purpose, we analyzed Actinobacteria, which are known for their diversity, abundance, and aptitude to resist to xenobiotic substances. Using a selective medium for Actinobacteria, 42 strains were isolated from both untreated and Granstar® treated soils. The number of isolates recovered from the treated agricultural soil was fewer than that...

In vitro evaluation of novel crude extracts produced by actinobacteria for modulation of ruminal fermentation R. Bras. Zootec.
Alves,Bruna Gomes; Martins,Cristian Marlon de Magalhães Rodrigues; Peti,Ana Paula Ferranti; Moraes,Luiz Alberto Beraldo de; Santos,Marcos Veiga dos.
ABSTRACT We evaluated the inclusion of two crude extracts produced by Streptomyces genus on in vitro dry matter and organic matter digestibility (IVDMD; IVOMD), cumulative gas production, volatile fatty acids (VFA), and methane (CH4) and ammoniacal nitrogen (NH3-N) concentration. The experimental design was randomized blocks with three blocks and four treatments: AMC (1.2 mg/25 mL ruminal inoculum), Caat (1.2 mg/25 mL ruminal inoculum), negative control (no inclusion of extracts), and positive control (sodium monensin, 1.7 mg/25 mL ruminal inoculum). Ruminal fluid samples were collected from three multiparous Holstein dairy cows fitted with ruminal cannula and incubated in a 24-h fermentation assay. There was no effect of crude extract inclusion in...

Potential for biocontrol of melanized fungi by actinobacteria isolated from intertidal region of Ilha Do Mel, Paraná, Brazil BJM
Dalitz,Camila de Araújo; Porsani,Mariana Vieira; Figel,Izabel Cristina; Pimentel,Ida C.; Dalzoto,Patrícia R..
Abstract Actinobacteria occur in many environments and have the capacity to produce secondary metabolites with antibiotic potential. Identification and taxonomy of actinobacteria that produce antimicrobial substances is essential for the screening of new compounds, and sequencing of the 16S region of ribosomal DNA (rDNA), which is conserved and present in all bacteria, is an important method of identification. Melanized fungi are free-living organisms, which can also be pathogens of clinical importance. This work aimed to evaluate growth inhibition of melanized fungi by actinobacteria and to identify the latter to the species level. In this study, antimicrobial activity of 13 actinobacterial isolates from the genus Streptomyces was evaluated against seven...
